Is this a daycamp?

Yes! The Edge Summer 2024 is a 1-week long day camp housed at ECU's School of Theatre & Dance. Camp starts each day at 8:30am and finishes at 3pm.

There will be a final performance for family and friends on August 10th at 1pm in our Studio Theatre.

How many students are accepted?

The Edge accepts 30 students ages 14-18 (rising freshman to rising senior) on a rolling basis, so it is highly advised to register early.  After the cohort is full, students will be placed on a waitlist.

Can I leave campus?

Nope, and we'll keep you so busy you won't want to.  Once you register on opening day, you're on campus for the week, attendance will be taken at each class and you'll have counselors (current ECU MT students) who accompany you throughout the day.

What do I need for my prescreen audition?

Normally, any student applying to the concentration must complete a prescreen through Acceptd.com in the fall of their senior year.  ECU prescreens upwards of 300 students and invites 50 to campus in February for an in-person audition.

As part of The Edge, rising seniors have the opportunity to complete their prescreen audition on campus and be notified of an invitation to the February program audition at the program's close.

For the prescreen, students need 32 bars of a pre-1970 musical theatre song, 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song, a 1-minute monologue, and will be put through a dance audition on campus.

Students may also prepare a "wild card" as part of the prescreen process.  For example, playing an instrument and singing, singing a Pop/Rock song, acrobatics, a make-up tutorial - show us what makes you unique!
